Erin Brockovich (2000) WARNING - SPOILERS BELOW.
The Digest Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts) is a twice-divorced mother of three. She has no real skills other than being a mother and "Ms. Wichita", her job search that she ends up coming in contact with Attorney Ed Masry(Albert Finney). After leaving an interview, Erin is involved in a car accident. Ed Masry takes on her case Pro Bono (for free). After they lose the case, one that Ed promised was a no-brainer, Erin finds herself seriously in debt and still unemployed. Finally at her wits end, she demands a that Ed give her a job as a filing clerk in his law office. It's not an easy job. Erin dresses like a hoochie and has a mouth that would make a sailor blush. No on really cares for her, but she doesn't let it bother her and she does her job well. While looking through a case she sees some medical records in a real estate case file. This confuses her, so she investigates. She finds out that the gas and electric companies are trying to pull a fast one on the residents of a small town and she sets out to help them. This is a story about sacrifice, hope, and trust. Erin has been hurt so often, she doesn't know how to trust anyone. It hurts her professionally and personally, but it helps her when dealing with the residents. She's "one of them"; they love and respect her. I wish I had one ounce of the courage she does. I mean, she is always wearing some outfit with her boobs hanging out and doesn't give a rats ass what people say. That takes a lot of courage and confidence. She also sacrifices her family. This case consumes almost every hour of her life. Erin's kids are ages 8, 6, and 9 months old. She misses first words and first steps. She misses countless dinners and bedtimes. But she has to go on. For the first time in her life people listen to her and she is not willing to give that up. The Dish What a fun movie! I really enjoyed seeing Albert Finney. If you grew up when I did, you remember his talent being wasted on "Wolfen", "Looker" and "Annie". It's unfortunate that this movie was released this early in the season or else he would be a shoe-in for a Best Supporting actor nomination. The praise doesn't stop there, Julia Roberts was brilliant as Erin Brockovich. The Directive "Erin Brockovich" is a feel-good movie. I laughed and cried. It's horrible what those residents had to endure. All in all I found it to be a great story and kudos to the real Erin Brockovich. ![]() Even if you don't care for Julia, Erin's story is worth watching
