The Digest

Catherine Deane (Jennifer Lopez) is a world renown child psychologist. For the past 18 months she has been working with a experimental procedure that allows one to enter the mind of another. She has been using this technique to try and bring a little boy out of a coma. She has not been successful.

Meanwhile, serial killer Carl Stargher (Vincent D'Onofrio) is finally caught, but he has a catastrophic schizophrenic episode that causes him to fall in a coma before the FBI can determine where his last victim is.

The FBI takes him to the facility that Catherine works in and convinces her to enter his mind and figure out where the last victim is.

The Dish

This movie SUCKED. I had thought I was going to go easy on it, but as I'm sitting here typing and thinking, I've changed my mind. What has gotten my panties in a wad is how manipulative this movie was. When Catherine enters Carl's mind she finds him, as he was when he was a child. A very abused child. The movie, in my opinion, seeks to make us feel sorry for Carl because he had a horrendous childhood. Yes he did. His childhood blew, but he should not use that as an excuse for his current bad behavior.

The movie was disjointed and bumpy. The plot, what little of it there was, was bad and hard to follow. The special effects were pretty decent, but weren't good enough to carry the film. It was like watching someone's bad acid trip. The movie never decided which direction it want to go in and when it picked a direction it took too long to get there.

There is some shocking and grotesque stuff in this film and I'm sorry that I witnessed it. We, the audience are forced to puff on the same crack pipe that whom ever made this movie was hitting and, I, for one was not pleased.

People are going to hail this as an opus unlike any other. They'll call it ground breaking and phenomenal. Let's be real. It's a waste of money and a waste of time. Stay home.

The Directive

Don't even bother with this one. It's pointlessly gross.
