The Digest
When Alan Shore got himself bounced out of The Practice he landed on his feet at the law firm Crane, Poole and Schmidt. C.,P., and S. is a high-powered firm with million dollar clients. Despite this, the firm is run by the nutty Denny Crane who is just this side of constant sexual harassment charges. The lawyers, paralegals, and interns sleep with each other and everywhere you turn there seems to be an ethic violation. But the firm has one thing going for it; every single lawyer is damn good. They win their cases and its not always easy.
And winning cases is all that matters, right?
The Dish
I tape a lot of television. I mean A LOT. Thank the Lord for Comcast DVR service. Most of the stuff that I record, I don't even really watch. I just listen to it as I write. Boston Legal is one of the shows I actually watch. David E. Kelley has a knack for creating interesting characters along with interesting stories and some of the funniest lines in a non-comedy. What I like most about the show is that they take on relevant issues and current affairs. Denny Crane is right leaning and Alan Shore is left leaning so you kinda hear both sides of the issue, but admittedly, the show does take on a more liberal bent. William Shatner and James Spader play two of the best characters on television and their back and forth banter is hilarious. They dry wit of Candace Bergen shines through as Shirley Schmidt and I would be remiss to not mention the great performances by Betty White as a homicidal senior citizen. Inspired casting, really.
